X-ray image intensifier is composed of input surface
X-ray image intensifier is composed of input surface, photocathode, cluster electrode, anode and output surface under vacuum state.
The resolution of the image intensifier is limited by the resolution of the input-output fluorescent screen and the ability of the focusing electrode to hold the image as the image passes from the input screen to the output screen. For image intensifiers with CsI input screen, the average resolution is 4 line pairs/mm.
The reasons for the resolution reduction originating outside the image intensifier include scattered radiation in the X-ray beam received by the input screen; The patient’s motion and the limited size of the focal spot cause the image to be out of focus.
In addition, the quality of fluorescent images is affected by statistical fluctuations in the number of x-lines impinged on the input screen.
