Image intensifiers and flat panel detectors are two types of imaging devices used for fluoroscopy and filming respectively. Image intensifiers are mainly used in fluoroscopy machines such as gastrointestinal machines and C-arms; flat panel detectors are mainly used in medical diagnostic X-ray machines, that is, film machines. However, the current situation is that image intensifiers are withdrawing from the market and are slowly being replaced by dynamic flat panel detectors.
