The input screen in the image intensifier tube.

The image intensifier tube is the core component of the image intensifier. The input screen, the focusing electrode, the anode, the output screen and the ion pump are all sealed in the high vacuum glass tube.

The main function of the input screen is to convert X-ray image into electronic image, which is mainly composed of aluminium substrate, fluorescent layer, isolation layer and photoelectric layer.

The main principle is that X-ray photons irradiate the fluorescent layer, which ionizes atoms, generates secondary electrons, and fluoresces when electrons recombine to produce visible images.
