Image intensifier how it works

The image intensifier tube is the core component of image intensifier. Its internal structure is encapsulated with an input screen, a focus electrode, an anode, an output screen and an ion pump in a high vacuum glass shell.

The main function of image intensifier is to convert invisible X-ray image into visible image. It improves the brightness of X-ray images and makes it easy for cameras to take TV photographs.

The X-ray image is input to the input screen, which makes the photocathode excite photoelectrons. Under the high-voltage acceleration between the anode and the cathode and the focusing potential of the grid, the photoelectrons bombard the output screen. Therefore, the fluorescent image can be reduced by a tenth and the brightness increased by thousands of times on the input screen.
